[edit] GA/R

Oh, so sorry. It slipped my mind. See Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith for an FA with good refs. If you have more questions, just let me know.Rlevse 23:45, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:AlexNewArtBot

Hi, Fred

The page more useble than User:AlexNewArtBot/SwedenLog is the actual results of the search that are in User:AlexNewArtBot/SwedenSearchResult. The page is transcluded as a template in Wikipedia:Swedish Wikipedians' notice board/New articles. As you can see there are starting dates and users already. The idea is that users cut-n-paste relevant articles in the board, or just weed out the false positives and keep the rest in place or whatever - the choise is yours.

Usually I run the bot overnight over the last 3000 articles in the new articles list. The bot reads every article against a list of rules. Every rule has its weight (that can be negative). If the rule matches the "leading paragraph" of the article the points are doubled. If the sum of the points for all the rules is above a threshold the article is put into the search result. The log (e.g. User:AlexNewArtBot/SwedenLog) is intended to get some understanding what is going on, while we have false positive or false negative.

The rules are read by bot from User:AlexNewArtBot/Sweden thus, you can adjust them yourself ( or better ask me, if you not sure). The first line @@14@@ shows the threshold that is needed to be included in the search results. Each rule is on its own line. E.g. the rule:

3 /\Wscandinav/ , /norway/ , /denmark/ , /finland/

means that it gives 3 points if the article matches Perl pattern /\Wscandinav/i (word beginning with Scandinav). The rule will be ignored (inhibited) if the article matches /norway/, /denmark/ or /finland/. If no numerics in the beginning of the rule it is given 10 points.

I think it is all. I compiled the rules in a haste and may miss something important. Suggestions are welcome. The list of currently supported new article lists is on the bot userpage Alex Bakharev 23:51, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Scanian talk page

Hi! In case your interested, I've just replied to a comment you made in August at Talk:Scanian_(linguistics)#Vocabulary.2C_.22r.C3.A4lig.22. /Jiiimbooh 20:28, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chaperon (headgear)

You may remember commenting on this in January & leaving outstanding points. These have been addressed. The article was passed as a GA by Badlydrawnjeff, but apparently without the formalities being correctly gone through, and is now up for GA review here. Btw, one of the editors who have commented so far writes like this: "It seems this article was not properly listed on the WP:GA page whenever it was passed, but since Fred-Chess seems to of disputed this articles status, said he'd put up a GA/R which seems to of not happened, and because I can't tell if the concerns he seemed to have were ever resolved, i've filed a WP:GA/R on this article to make its status certain." (my bolds) - Is this typical of the GA group? Johnbod 01:24, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi Johnbod, hope you're watching my page.
I don't know what is happening in the GA group right now, sorry. I am unhappy with how my concerns have been ignored on the Wikipedia:Good article review lately and have decided to stay away from any GA work until I get decent replies. / Fred-Chess 13:17, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Fair enough, although they seem just to have listed a group of articles for review based on your comments. Johnbod 14:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for that Johnbod 12:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Riksdagen people

What do you think about adding interwikis to them all? They are all on Swedish Wikipedia, I think. If you can find a tool to use, it shouldn't be too much work. / Fred-Chess 02:03, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually I was thinking of that earlier. I thought I could ask FlaBot to have a go on it, but I realized it wouldn't as there are no interwikis on the other side. Unfortunately, the Swedish Wikipedia does not have articles for every single MP... so I decided I'd browse through them all when I no longer have to mass-create stubs (as per Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of members of the Swedish Riksdag, 2002-2006). When that's promoted, I'm going to bring all of my creations up to at least the same standard as Rolf K. Nilsson. No worries! (Hmm - come to think about it, perhaps it'd be easier to add interwiki-links to them all using AWB and [[sv:{{subst:PAGENAME}}]] and then remove those that do NOT have corresponding Swedish articles? We'll see.) Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 02:09, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
OK, I'm going through the Members of the Riksdag in order to make sure they are all added to Category:Members of the Riksdag. (I'm also adding party category, living/year of death category, and birth category) When that's done, I'll run through that category and make sure they all get interwiki-links. AWB is our friend! [edit] Possible renaming of Wikipedia:WikiProject Saints

It has been suggested that the above named project be renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Christian saints. Please express your opinion on this proposed renaming, and the accompanying re-definition of the scope of the project, here. John Carter 17:09, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bipolar?

Fred, bipolar? Yes, if you mean swings from incredulous to entertained. And yes, I admit, psychological anthropology, discussions about anti-evolutionary and pro-evolutionary paradigms, cultural determinants and how social conditioning directly influences all human behavior brings that out in me. Especially when used to argue against a word in a lead of an article on Wikipedia. I'll search for that publication tonight. Best, Pia 17:41, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

The full list of PISA publications involving Sweden can be found here: http://www.skolverket.se/sb/d/254/a/1158 . Don't know the report you refer to, but I'd suggest searching this one http://www.skolverket.se/publikationer?id=1627 . Additional educational reports of interest can be found at http://www.iue.it/RSCAS/Research/EuropeanForum/EF_2006-2007.shtml . Fred, I'm cutting you some slack regarding your comment on my talk page because you say you have personal experience with bipolar disorder, but I have to tell you, for the sake of future exchanges, that I think it gives the wrong impression when admin. asks mental health questions based on contributions, even if it's done jokingly, in good humor. It's sufficient to say that you find a contribution strange, without adding amateur psychiatry diagnoses to the mix. It just gives the wrong impression and implies way too much familiarity. In regards to your comment about the "strangeness" of my Sweden talk page entry: such strangeness is only offered in response to rather long chains of unanswered posts that include declarations such as "I am a [fill in the blanks] (for example PhD/medical doctor/anthropologist/etc)" , in this case, it was also used to convey the absurdity in using anthropological interpretive excesses in the 1920s to demonstrate why Sweden should not be described as modern but as "backward and of rural mentality" in the lead. Both items, the declaration of the person's professional status and the argument itself, belong in the region of the absurd in my book. If your personality is such that you prefer to meet the absurd, or traces of absurdity, with laughter, I see no reason to pretend otherwise on Wikipedia to satisfy some strange rule about cutting out humor in favor of lengthy somber deliberations in response to oddities presented by otherwise seemingly intelligent contributors. The Wiki politics, the hierarchy etc, doesn't interest me in the least, so I'm not concerned about earning brownie points by contributing solely wiki-politically correct responses. When I want to be bored, I have a bunch of other choices to turn to. For your information: my happiness and good mood are pretty stable, with no swings to the depths of despair and depression. Please re-assess and adjust your tentative diagnosis on my talk page doctor. Pia 23:07, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
I promise I won't make any posts leaning towards "familiarity" to you again. Edit any way you want, I don't care. / Fred-Chess 07:28, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

No problem, it's not your fault. / Fred-Chess 19:02, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi Fred. Please help fill in the List of Swedish films using the category amd add details on actors. directors etc. Such an empty page is not a good look for wikipedia or Sweden!!! Good work on the Swedish films by the way ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 21:15, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Off to a good start!! Well done my friend!! I ought to be a par tof WIkiProject Sweden rather than WP Finland as my father is Swedish! My real surname is Anderson english spelling. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" "S.P.E.C.T.R.E" 16:31, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

The intention is to add most Swedish feature films but exclude ones like short 4 minute films, one off independent films etc. For instance you look at all the swedish actors and direcotr filmographies and you can always tell the films which are worthy of an article. If it is a short film or particularly low budget film or compleley unsuccessful or whateve rit proably wouldn't quality for an article. The list should be more than just one or two films though ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" "S.P.E.C.T.R.E" 19:10, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I am not sure this statement is clear enough to reflect any decision for filling up the country lists. Surely 4 minute films are mostly not needed. Not so sure if independent films are not needed as such. Surely we should list the articles we already have in wikipedia and from the ones we don't have, all the awarded, top grossing and generally famous films of each country. "Most featured films" needs to be better defined. I will soon start a discussion about it in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films/List and navigation management in the hope of coming to some conclusion about it. Please, help us with your opinion.
