[edit] Bravalla
Could you help me identify the Battle of Bravalla (770) that is mentioned in my article about Bravlin? It is supposed to be "one of the great battles of early Scandinavian history, a contest that was long remembered by the skalds and chroniclers" and "affected very considerably the distribution of the balance of power in Scandinavia" (Thomas Kedrick's A History of the Vikings). Nevertheless, I can't find anything about in Wikipedia. Thanks, Ghirla -трёп- 12:30, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] GAR for Swedish literature
I gave this a copy-edit a while back and I think the prose is fine for GA, but I've left a few quotes at GAR that I think required citing/sourcing to avoid POV problems. If this could be done, I would have no objections to this article remaining as a GA. Best, Moreschi 19:30, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sex Tourism: Vandalism?
Fred, I hope you are having a nice holiday session. I hate to have to report this, but Edgarde just deleted the link to Sly Travel, which is currently under arbitration. I let him put up the links he wants -- about 5 irrelevant links mind you. Now he is trying to start the edit war all over again.
Also a new editor came on to tell about his experiences in the highly notable sex tourism destination of Bangkok, and Edgarde has treated him with disrespect in order to scare him off, since he seems to want to dominate the article with his point of view. Edgarde keeps turning his disagreements into personal attacks, with every editor who does not promote his point of view. I don't think the article can be presented without biased as long as Edgarde keeps doing this. Do you think we should ask to have him suspended from editing the article in light of this?
Edgarde seems to have committed vandalism by deleting a link that I want, which is under arbitration. He did this completely with out notice, without explanation, and without approval from me or a reviewer. Would you please make a statement on the Sex Tourism talkpage so that we can at least have order in this article until arbitration is completed? If he continues this form of vandalism can we take action to prevent him from doing it again?

[edit] Sex tourism arbitration
You are welcome to explain why you think the proposed decision is not right. Fred Bauder 14:41, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Fred-Chess, please relpy to this Proposed finding fact. I mean no disrespect, but this statement was claimed to be a fact, when there is no evidence to support it:
-
- "Very well, but it is your own website which is the issue." Fred Bauder 04:54, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Sly Travel is not "my own website".
- Also, I have provided evidence in this section that supports that I was wronging accused of promoting other sites by myself in a baised manner.[1],[2],[3]

[edit] Borghunter
I would like to have an AMA appointed for me. If possible I think my request should be moved out of pending.Like I've said I've made countless contributions to wikipedia but I've come to a complete halt due to the current problem and would like to have this resolved asap. --Gary123 18:22, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposted Ban
Fred, what do you suggest we do about the proposed ban? Do you think I should open a RFC on the sex tourism discussion about this? It amazes me -- and disappoints me deeply -- that this proposition was even made. Why hasn't anyone proposed the fact that editor Devalover was wrongly accused of impersonating me as a puppet by editor Edgarde. The results of the puppet case show that is clearly a fact, and this has been ignored. This was the origin of the case and the most important subject of misbehavior.
I don't think any evidence I have provided was even considered. There have been no motions cited against Edgarde where he is at fault, and I was the one to file for arbitration. It seems more like a popularity contest more than any thing else.
Thank you for speaking on my behalf. I don't know what I'd do without you.

[edit] Surgery
I've been seeing doctor's for the past two days, and I need to have a serious surgery on Dec 26th, which will hospitalize me for at least a week. Would you please speak on my behalf in the Sex Tourism arbitration until I return? I'm not feeling well right now.

[edit] General references
Do you consider Johannes Kepler ill-cited?
The substantive difference between what I advocate and the section-end notes there is that I would not insist on page numbers. Page numbers are
- not particularly useful to a reader without the book in front of him;
- fairly redundant to a reader with the book;
- positively misleading to a reader with a different edition of the book.
The formal difference is that I would not find it necessary to have a dozen footnotes saying "^ Caspar, Kepler" and nothing else; but I could be persuaded to yield on this, provided it is explained on the talk page of a reviewed article. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 22:56, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I agree that we should specify edition; my concern about editions is for those books in which hard cover and pb, or British and American, editions have different pagination. If you have different page numbers than I do, it is sometimes possible to work out a scaling factor, but it is easier to look up the reference from scratch. (Amd again, if someone wants to put page numbers in, fine; but the problem with Kepler, if any, is that they only used one life of Kepler, and a FA should have at least two.)
