Talk:Freyjadour Falenas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Added the Egan's to the Prince's family, as it is revealed in the Japanese Suikoden V guide from Konami that Ferid is indeed Skald Egan's son.
- Which guide is that? No relationship between Ferid and Skald or Bernadette is indicated on the diagram at the start of the 108 Star Guide (Skald's not even on that chart), nor is it mentioned on Ferid's character page in the same guide. That relationship should still be labeled speculation.

Konami's japanese Suikoden V guide lists Ferid as Skald Egan's firstborn son. Ephyon 04:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes, but _which_ of the Japanese guides? Konami usually puts out a couple different books per game. What I was saying is that it's not in the "Gensou Suikoden V Official Guide : Character of 108-Stars" book, which is one of them, and which IMO would be the most likely candidate. Unless they're saying it on Ferid's page without ever mentioning the names Skald or Egan (I don't have the kanji skillz to recognize Skald's title). And then they would've had lines on the diagram in the front, connecting Bernadette and Ferid as siblings and Bernadette and the prince as having the same relationship as Sialeeds and the prince.

It does appear to be on Skald's page. Why they didn't put it in the relationship diagram, I have no idea. It's a little strange to me that no one would know the son of the leader of the Island Nations married the queen of Falena -- it sounds like it could get awfully political -- but I guess they found a way to keep it hush-hush. Which sounds just like Ferid and Skald, I guess. Huh. (Anyone willing to provide a translation of Skald's page in the 108 Star Guide? I can't read it very well...) - DC
- People keep forgetting this: The Egans are nobles, not royals. Skald is a big-shot military guy but he's not the ruler of the Island Nations. And, before anyone brings it up here as well, there is not even a hint that they have blood relations to Lazlo and Flare. Ephyon 17:08, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image spoiler?
The image at the bottom is quite the spoiler; it's something someone's going to notice even with the warning at the top. Maybe an edit is in order?
[edit] Merge Suggestion
I shouldn't have to explain the logic behind this. I supposed two people made the pages without seeing the other or something.
Frankly, which page is taken over doesn't really matter to me, and the Faroush Falenas page does seem in a better condition at first glance. One of them has to go though, and since Faroush came from a Konami savestate rather than an official work, at least until we get a name from the novels, I think it'd be better to stick with "Prince". OK, LAST CALL: Since the new name is more or less proved, I will be wiping out these two pages and moving everything into Freyjadour Falenas. This is your chance to complain before reverting becomes a whole lot more complicated. Ephyon 12:37, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Prince's Name: Update.
In the nobel, his name is Flayadoell.
Is the novel even out yet? Just to be certain, since I haven't heard nor seen even the slightest mention of this name or the novel being released anywhere. Ephyon 23:49, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- Turns out the novel IS out, according to this thread in Suikosource, making it Freyjadour Falenas or Freyadour Falenas, depending on how you'd rather spell the deity's name. And for those who dislike the name (I kinda do), he is nicknamed as "Frey" during the story.
- However, for the life of me I could not find the original statement by SARS and practically nobody knows the name yet, so I'll hold off from making changes. If nobody questions the merge though, I'll smash everything together under the novel's name as soon as I get confirmation.
- Yes, the goddess Freya was female. Go ahead with the gender jokes if you haven't exhausted them over the artwork already. Ephyon 20:36, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- but there is a male Norse god named Frey, right?
- Frey or Freyr. IIRC Freyr was be romanized as Fureya in Japanese in Valkyrie Profile, though, so it can be hard to be sure which was intended. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.225.176.171 (talk) 02:29, 11 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Yet another name
So, I'm considering adding that "Adil" is Prince's name according to a cellphone comic (source) in the Trivia section. Would you guys say this is a worthwhile contribution to the article or not? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Naxen (talk • contribs) 21:25, 22 March 2007 (UTC).
- I can't see why not. The first item in the trivia section already deals with names, so just stick it in there. Ephyon 23:44, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
