- It is a straightforward matter to replace the image with the original photograph and without the superimposed lettering, however, I believe the present image does a much better job of communicating the main point, which is, that Astaire was in his time, and still is an important influence on male fashion, while showing his preference for casual wear as opposed to the top hat and tails in which he is usually portrayed, but which he himself hated. The fact that a monograph has been written by a leading expert (Boyer is male fashion editor for Forbes Magazine) dealing only with Astaire's influence on fashion validates the point made in the text of the article. I can find no rule or guideline within Wikipedia which states that book covers may only be used to illustrate articles about the books, and believe this usage falls into fair use as currently understood.
