edits were made using paint shop pro 4.15se
Pure french power plug.jpg had its canvas extended to double its original size
Blue French power strip - socket.jpg was scaled up to 4 times its original size (using the resample function)
the scaled version of the socket was pasted onto the image with the plug.
and the resulting image was cropped to give what you see here.
the jpeg was saved with a compression setting of 5 in paint shop pro. according to http://www.faqs.org/faqs/jpeg-faq/part1/ this is equivilent to a quality setting of 95 in applications which use the IJG JPEG software
