The Fremantle-class patrol boats have been the Royal Australian Navy's coastal patrol vessels since 1979. Their retirement was announced in 2001 and a decommissioning schedule published in 2004. From May 2005 they are to be replaced by the Armidale class patrol boats.

The fictional Fremantle class boat HMAS Defiance, portrayed by HMAS Townsville, featured in the later part of the ABC TV series Patrol Boat.
