Freedom Party of Manitoba

The Freedom Party of Manitoba was registered with Elections Manitoba on February 27, 2007.

The FPM came about with an official name change requested by the Marijuana Party of Manitoba.


As Party Leader for the Marijuana Party, Chris Buors, had let it be known through various forum venues that he did not intend to run the party in the upcoming provincial and expressed interest in finding a new leader for the Party.

In early February, James Cotton, expressed interest in changing the Party name and becoming Party leader. All the proper forms for Elections Manitoba were gathered, signed, sealed and delivered with the resulting change taking effect.

Chris Buors is Party President.

James Cotton is the Party Leader.

As of March, 2007 the Elections Manitoba web site still listed this party as registered under its old name, the Manitoba Marijuana Party.
