From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Free Ride Poker is a game designed by Reiner Knizia and first published in 2006 by TrayGames as an online game.
It is an easy Poker variant for 2 to 6 players, that feels like traditional Poker without the complex bidding procedure. Free Ride Poker shares elements of play with Texas hold 'em, both games have visible cards on the table during play. The Free Ride, in the name refers to a player being able to play cards even if they have insufficient chips to pay when folding, giving them one last chance to remain in the game.
The main variations from Poker are:
- Each hand the first card is played to the table simultaneously and then revealed, the player with the lowest played card then starts the hand and play continues clockwise
- All players reaching the 5th card of the hand play this card face-down. Once all players have folded or played a fifth card, these cards are revealed to find the winner of the hand
- Automatic betting occurs by a number of chips being put into the pot based on when a player folds or loses.
- Play ends when the first player busts out
