Free House (horse)

Free House was a male thoroughbred race horse bred in California by Trudy McCaffery and John Toffan.

The big grey horse foaled in 1994.

Trained by J. 'Paco' Gonzales.


On the track: 22 Starts, 9 Wins, 5 Places, 3 Shows Career Earnings: $3,178,971

At age 2 he won the Norfolk Stakes (United States). At 3 he won the Santa Anita Derby, Swaps Stakes, and the San Felipe Stakes. He was third in both the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes. Free House ran in all three of the Triple Crown races and his best finish was second in the Preakness Stakes.

At age 4 he won the Pacific Classic Stakes and the Bel Aire Handicap.

At age 5 he won the Santa Anita Handicap and the San Antonio Handicap.

'Free House' won graded stakes at age 2, 3, 4 and 5. He won Grade 1 stakes at age 3, 4 and 5.

He had a bathing accident in 2004 and was killed.
