Fredrik Sjöström (born May 6, 1983, in Färgelanda, Sweden) is a Swedish professional ice hockey right winger with the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL.
[edit] Playing career
Sjöström is a big but speedy forward who plays an intensive physical game. He produced a lot of points in his junior years but at the senior level he has not had the same success. He started his elite career playing for Frölunda HC in Swedish Elitserien and after beeing drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft with their first pick, 11th overall, he went overseas and played for the Calgary Hitmen in the WHL. It was not until season 2003-04 Sjöström got to play with the Coyotes scoring 13 points in 57 games in his first NHL season.[1]
On July 13, 2006, Sjöström signed a new deal with the Coyotes. the contract is a one-way contract worth $1.5 million over two years.[2]
