Frederick Rose

Dr. Frederick Rose was a British naval surgeon who was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 1858 for acts of kindness shown to sick American naval personnel. It was the first time a Congressional Gold Medal was given to a person who was not a member of the US military[1].
