Fred Segal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fred Segal is a Los Angeles, California based clothing boutique. There are two stores, one in Hollywood (on Melrose Avenue) and the other in Santa Monica.
In 1976, the Hollywood location was purchased by Ron Herman. The location rapidly became a retail landmark and celebrity mecca. Other Ron Herman stores were opened in Brentwood in 1988, Beverly Hills in 1998, Costa Mesa in 2002, and Malibu in 2004. The stores seek to maintain a hip atmosphere and carry trendy merchandise. Ron Herman at the Fred Segal center employs young and influential buyers (including Nina Garduno, John Eshaya, Brett Brooks, and Brian Kaneda), many of whom run their own well-known clothing labels.
Ron Herman also produces the Free City sweatshirts, available at the Ron Herman stores.
Fred Segal is now planning a 100,000-square-foot store at the $2 billion W Las Vegas Hotel being built by Starwood and Edge Resorts in Las Vegas, Nevada. The store, Fred Segal's first store outside California is slated for a 2008 grand opening.
