Fred Meijer (businessman)

Fred Meijer was the long-time chairman of the Meijer discount department store and grocery retailer, and the son of Meijer founder Hendrik Meijer. Fred began his career as a bagger in his father's first Meijer grocery store in Greenville. He lives near Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is a philathropist in the West Michigan area. Among the places that bear his name are the Frederik Meijer Gardens, the Meijer Majestic theater and its Meijer rehearsal hall, and the Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center.
