Athletics at Beyer High are synonymous with excellence. Topping the list of athletic achievement is Beyer's baseball team. Led by the highly touted skipper, Mitch Munthe, Beyer enjoys regional acclaim for producing some of the most outstanding ball players in Northern California. Additionally, Tennis standout Shellie Pfeifle led the Patriots to a 9 and 0 Season in 1989, which garnered the Patriots a CIF trophy and Shellie a spot on the California State University Fresno Women's Tennis Team.

The Beyer High School [Mock Trial] team is considered one of the best in the state. Beyer High School is renowned for its very successful Band and Color guard teams as well as a top notch speech and Academic Decathlon team. Under the guidance of Gary P. Gilroy, its band won the International Sudler Shield award. The school's choir, directed by Jennifer Champeaux, has also been quite successful, and has been invited, and subsequently sang at Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall in San Fransisco. The school also offers special opportunities for students in the agricultural, language, and food service fields. The school counts actor Timothy Olyphant among its alumni. Its cheerleading team is the best in league.

In 2004, the school attracted a modest amount of attention by temporarily banning the book Always Running -- La Vida Loca: Gang Days in L.A.[1][2]

Beyer is scheduled for demolition by the end of 2007 due to lack of public funds. When students were asked what they thought about their school being destroyed a great deal of them responded in the following manner: "Not true."[citation needed]
