There is a lack of uniformity in the presentation of the titles. Should we write the titles in French or in English, eg., comte or count, duc or duke? Any opinions? Rdavout 07:09, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- "It depends". The problem is that general usage in English texts is not consistent: relatively modern holders of peerages are usually referred to with the French style (say, the duchesse du Maine), whereas those of the Middle Ages are usually translated ("Duke of Burgundy" rather than "Duc de Bourgogne"). There's a transitional period where you might meet with either, e.g., "Duke of Guise" and "Duc de Guise" both seem "normal" for an English text. Choess 07:16, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Shouldn't we try and get a consensus around this, and create a wikipedia convention? Rdavout 19:36, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
