Frazier School District

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Frazier School District is a small public district located in Fayette County, about 35 miles south of Pittsburgh. It serves the boroughs of Perryopolis and Newell, and the townships of Perry, Jefferson, and Lower Tyrone.

The district is named for a wealthy Perryopolis resident named Mary Frazier, who provided the struggling school district then named Perry Area with an endowment. About 1000 students attend grades K-12 within the district. Two elementary schools, Perry in Perryopolis and Central in Jefferson Township serve the school. Frazier Middle and Frazier High Schools are also located in Perryopolis. The school's mascot is the Commodore, a reference to Perryopolis's namesake, War of 1812 hero Oliver Hazard Perry.

The school's motto, "Commitment to Excellence", is actually copied from the Oakland Raiders.
