Frappr

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Frappr! is an online community mapper launched in August 2005 by co-founders and college friends, Brian Tom, Kun Gao, and James Lin. The founders all attended UC Berkeley and USC and started Frappr! as a means of keeping track of their post-college friends. On Frappr!, members have the ability to customize their page, upload photos, interact with friends via blogs and chat, add widgets and share information in a guestbook style setting as well as embed their Frappr! map onto their other social site profiles such as MySpace, Xanga, Hi5, and Friendster.

[edit] Frappr features

On Frappr!, the user simply adds themselves to a group map and an account is created for them. Within the profile, the user adds information including gender, relationship status, occupation, education, birthday and city, town and country. Interests helps the user to find and be found by adding as much or as little info about themselves as they deem appropriate. Included are an about me section, interests and hobbies, favorite music, movies, shows, books, websites, food, and quotes. Much like other profiles onlines, there are also sections on people you would like to meet, a wishlist, most admired traits amongst other topics.

[edit] Stats

Frappr! currently states they have over two million maps that have been created.

[edit] History

Brian and Kun first created Rising Concepts which started in March 2005 as an Internet service company quickly launching Planzo (an online calendar), followed by CareerJive (an online directory of friends and colleagues), then Frappr.
