Frantisek Drdla

Frantisek Alois Drdla (Franz Drdla) (1868-1944) was a prominent composer of piano and violin music.

Drdla was born in 1868 in Saar, Moravia, in what is now the Czech Republic. He is best known for composing Souvenir (1906) and Vision, both for violin with piano accompaniment, and was himself an accomplished violinist. He is also known for other works for combining violin and piano, such as Träumerei, Op. 21; and other combinations of instruments, such as a duet for guitars. He also composed two operettas. His best known work is "Souvenir in D Major". He also composed the lesser-known Concertino in A minor, Op. 225 and two operettas.

Drdla died in 1944.
