Franklin Baker

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Franklin Baker was a flour miller in Philadelphia, United States, in the late 1800s. He got into the coconut business by accident when one of his Cuban customers paid him with coconuts. Turning an adversity into an opportunity, Mr. Baker discovered the wonders of this nut or fruit called coconut. He also discovered that there was a huge market for desiccated coconuts in the United States so he decided to look for a primary source of coconuts. This search led him to the Philippines. Together with his son, Franklin Baker Jr., they started Franklin Baker Company.
