Frank St. Leger

Frank St. Leger (born c. 1890, date of death unknown) was a British-American conductor of Indian birth. He was graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London and subsequently came to the United States in 1917 as the conductor for Nellie Melba's opera company. This was followed by a brief position with the American Opera Company, and, in 1929, a staff position with the Civic Opera of Chicago. In 1932 St. Leger was engaged as the music director of the Houston Symphony Orchestra, a tenure that would last three years. In 1935, he accepted a position on the musical staff of the Metropolitan Opera in New York and in 1953 joined the music faculty of Indiana University.
