Frank Rost (born 30 June 1973 in Karl Marx City, East Germany (now Chemnitz, Germany)), is a German professional footballer who currently plays as a goalkeeper for Hamburger SV.

Rost comes from a famous family background; his father Peter won a gold medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Handball, and his mother Christina, also a handball player, won the silver at the 1976 Olympic Games and bronze at the 1980 Games.

He was signed from Werder Bremen in 2002, and has three caps with Germany, making his debut against the USA in 2002.

Apart from Jens Lehmann, Frank is the only keeper to score from open play, when he scored on 31 March 2002 against Hansa Rostock.

After losing his starting position at Schalke 04 in late 2006, and because of discrepancies with the management and the coach, he was transferred to Hamburger SV on January 5, 2007.
