Frank Gambale (born December 22, 1958) is an Australian jazz fusion guitarist. He is renowned for his use of the sweep-picking technique.

He graduated from the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in Hollywood with Student of the Year honors. After graduation, he played the jazz club circuit with his own band and published his first book "Speed Picking". In 1986 he signed a 3 album contract with a small label called Legato.
In 1986, he toured with Jean-Luc Ponty and shortly after that auditioned for Chick Corea. That began a 6 year stint with Corea's band and he participated in 5 albums, sharing in a Grammy award and two Grammy Nominations.
In 1986 he signed an endorsement deal with Ibanez guitars which spawned the Frank Gambale model guitar which was sold worldwide starting in 1987. Yamaha also manufactured a Frank Gambale model guitar after he left Ibanez. In 1988 signed with JVC and in 1990 he released "Thunder From Down Under". Gambale also served as Head of the Guitar Department of L.A. Music Academy (LAMA).
Gambale began his own record label called Wombat Records on which he re-released his early Legato catalog and a new a double live CD called "Resident Alien - Live Bootlegs," along with a duet CD with Maurizio Colonna, the Italian classical guitarist, called "Imagery Suite."
Gambale also recorded one album for Steve Vai's record company, Favored Nations, called "Coming To Your Senses"
He has also been a member of Vital Information since 1988. The group includes drummer Steve Smith, keyboardist Tom Coster and bassist Baron Browne. He also played on three trio recordings with bassist Stu Hamm and drummer Steve Smith on Mike Varney's Tone Center Records. In addition to concert recordings he also released a concert DVD called "Concert With Class."
Gambale toured Europe in 2004 and also again with the Chick Corea Elektric Band in 2004.
