Francisco José Orlich Bolmarcich was President of Costa Rica from 1962 to 1966. He also ran for the presidency in 1958, but lost to Mario Echandi Jiménez. His parents came to Costa Rica from the town of Punat on the island of Krk, Croatia. His villa in Punat is named "Villa Costarica". He rose to the presidency after inheiriting large areas of property from his grandfather, a sailor who invested in Costa Rica. There are some controversy in the inheiritance since his father was the illegitimate child of his grandfather. There was a Francis Orlich from Punat, Krk who came to the US from Costa Rica and was employed by Bethlehem Steel who claimed to be the legal heir.
