From very young he learned to play the cuatro and the guitar. With his father Alexander Marcano Gómez, learned to sing a variety of Eastern songs, and with his mother, Rosa, he understood the importance of loving his resemblances and of venerating God and his beloved Virgen del Valle, at the age of 7 years began to sing, but is not until the 13 years when he makes his debut like professional. In that opportunity appeared in the Beneficient society of Juan Griego.

In 1960, he enters in the Guaiquerí group, with which he travels to Caracas, to record his first album, that was called Cantos Margariteños. While he was in this grouping, he created the well-known rate Guaiquerí Reasons, very similar to merengue, but with a different compass and a musical accentuation. Thanks to the love that he feels by his state and the devotion by his people, he is considered at the present time like the Musical Ambassador of the Margarita island and Living Patrimony of the Nueva Esparta State.

His extraordinary musical talent has served to compose, in all the margariteños rates: like: eastern gaitas,polos, malagueñas, fulías, sabanablancas, puntos, jotas, galerones, zumbaquezumba, lololós, gaitones and estribillos, among others), as well as joropos, Venezuelan waltzes, merengues, boleros and pasodobles.

Some of his works: La pesca (first composition of the rate Guaiquerí Reason), Amigo Turista, Polo margariteño, Malagueña, Son para gozarlas.
