Francis "Mickey" Roache. Mickey Roache was born in South Boston. After military service he joined the Boston Police force. He was made the head of the police department by mayor Raymond Flynn. Roache was head of the police during the infamus Charles Stuart case in 1989. He was instramnetal in keeping the peace in the city during the crisis that followed the invasive police raids into the African-American neighborhood known as Mission Hill. The police acted on information given to them by the victom of the crime, information that later turned out to be a complete set of lies. With out his willingness to take some of the blame for the overractive behavior of a few cops and reporters, the crisis could have grown into a riot similar to the scale of the Rodney King riots in 1992.
