From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Francesco II Sforza (d. 1535), also known as Francesco Maria Sforza[1], was the Duke of Milan from 1521[2] to 1535. He fought at the Battle of Bicocca, and joined the League of Cognac against Charles V. His death in 1535 sparked the Italian War of 1535.

[edit] Notes

  1. ^ To distinguish him from the earlier Francesco Sforza.
  2. ^ His possession of the Duchy was not finalized until the end of the Italian War of 1521, however.
