Françoise Basseporte

Madeleine Françoise Basseporte, (Paris, 1701 - idem 1780) was a French painter.
She became one of the pupils of Claude Aubriet thanks to her precocious talent for design. She replaced him as the Royan Painter after his death. The king Louis XV of France commisionned her to teach the princesses how to paint flowers.
She sollaborated with the chemist Rouelle and the sculptor Larchevêque ; Jussieu gave her som lessons about botany.
She also made some parchments about plants for Gaston d'Orléans.
