Frack
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Frack is a euphemism. It has no references to any exact definition, but is commonly used an expletive, usually in place of fuck. The first known mainstream usage of this word is in the Original Battlestar Galactica Television Series where it is used in place of curse words. It is also used heavily in the new Battlestar Galactica which currently airs on the Sci-fi channel (as of March 31st 2007). In that framework it seems to function as a substitute for "fuck" in several different forms, as an interjection ("Frak!"), inquisitive idiom ("What the frak?"), or verb ("So you want to frak me!").
It has recently been referenced numerous times in Dilbert, Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, and more recently The OC in episode 4x09.
It has two different spellings. The original Battlestar Galactica used "Frack", and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica uses "Frak" because the producers wanted to make it a four letter word ([1]). The word was first used in mainstream media by Montgomery Scott a.k.a. "Scotty" James Doohan in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.
