The Fränkische Saale (Franconian Saale) is a 136 km long river in Bavaria, Germany. It is a right-bank tributary of the Main, in Lower Franconia. It should not be confused with the larger Saxon Saale, which is a tributary to the river Elbe.

The source of the Fränkische Saale is in the Rhön Mountains, district Rhön-Grabfeld. Two places claim to be source of the Saale: Alsleben (Fränkische Saale Quelle) and Sternberg ( Saale Quelle). The source to the east of Alsleben is a well maintained large spring. The third source would be Brennhausen. It flows through Bad Königshofen, Bad Neustadt, Bad Kissingen, Hammelburg and flows into the river Main in Gemünden am Main.
