Foxit Reader is a freely available PDF reader for 32-bit Microsoft Windows (95 up to XP, including Mobile), GNU/Linux, and U3. It is notable for its short load time and small filesize, which are sometimes favorably compared to Adobe Reader[1]. Version 1.x was, however, criticised for excessive memory usage, while version 2 is reported to have solved this problem.[1].

It allows Windows 9x/ME to open Acrobat version 7 files, which the current version of Adobe's Acrobat reader for those operating systems will not.

Foxit also produces a number of other PDF related tools which are sold commercially. In this, their business strategy can be seen to be similar to that of Adobe, who also produces a free PDF Reader and sells commercial PDF software.
