Fountainhead Park

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fountainhead Park is a park bordering a tributary of the Potomac River, which is open most of the year, except winter. It is dominated by rolling hills, dense forests, and a tributary that flows into the Potomac River. It has a bike path, walking trial, and a fishing lake. Houses in Fairfax Station and Clifton, Virginia border this park. It is usually temperate, and after Tropical Storm Isabel struck in 2003, many trees were downed on the trail. Most of the park is closed during winter months.

The park's unique feature is the more than 8 miles of mountain biking trail [1] built specifically by and for mountain bikers. Although the trail is shared with hikers, the design is geared towards mountain biking with log jumps, and other technical sections.

The park is administered by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority.
