[edit] The fabricated "emo."
I just wanted to put this out here... emo is such an overused phrase by now that it pretty much has no meaning. Also, many people define what an emo band is by eliminating bands that are any other genre. This doesn't really work, because the same band could be described as a couple different genres. Having said this, this is what I believe:
- Emo IS:
- -Sub genre of punk/ hardcore.
- -Est. mid 80's.
- -Abbreviation of &formerly known as "emotive hardcore"
- -Unwed Sailor, Appleseed Cast, Cursive, Sunny Day Real Estate, A Day In Black And White, etc...
- Emo ISN'T:
- -Hawthorne Heights, Senses Fail, From First To Last, My Chemical Romance, The Used, etc...

- You know, if you're going to act like you're all-knowledgeable about something, at least pretend to be knowledgeable about it.
- Emo was:
- Established in 1985.
- An abbreviation of "emotional hardcore". The term "emotive hardcore" didn't even exist until 1996, and was never a widely-used abbreviation.
- There was an entire generation of emo before the bands you listed, including Rites of Spring and Embrace.
- Oh, and, more often than not, "emo" has been used by others to describe music, rather than being a defined music genre. Right now, "emo" is being used to describe all of the bands you say emo isn't. Not a whole lot that can be done about it.
- All of this is covered in Emo (music), if you'd spent a couple of minutes reading it.
- You know what constantly kills me? The part about "emotive hardcore". I've seen so many high school age folks scream at other people that "emo" means "emotive hardcore". They have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.
- Pass the word around - anyone who says "emo" has always meant "emotive hardcore" is just as stupid as the folks who claim that My Chemical Romance is the best emo band in the world. -- ChrisB 05:00, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Catholic Collaboration Effort
I was thinking that the Milk allergy page needed some work when you added the expert tag. I have a severe anaphylactic allergy to milk and a lot of information from FAAN (Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network) about milk allergies. I was also thinking of adding a section with differences between lactose intolerance and milk allergy. I also noticed that food intolerance redirects to food allergy, so I was going to write a food intolerance article. Since they are very different conditions, I thought it was a bit misleading for it to redirect to food allergy. I'd appreciate if you replyed with your thoughts. jf 17:22, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Could you please explain what you had in mind for putting a cleanup on the art? It would be useful to know before it gets descended upon by editors who know nothing about the place (as happens for topics on things to do with Java :) . - Thanks for your response regarding my removal of the stub tag and addition of the cleanup tag. According to the definition of a stub by Wikipedia: Stub the Imogiri article does not meet the qualifications of a stub article. The purpose of the stub tag is to draw the attention of editors to provide more information. It has enough information to make a quality article, although I think it needs extensive work (especially in sentence structure) and some wikification. | The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. - In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
- The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
- Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
- Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
- Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
- There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

| Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors! |
