[edit] Copyvio

It appears that much of this article is copy/paste from the school's website. [1] Somebody should look into this in depth. Chad 05:09, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Today I acted to remove the copyvio text used without expressed permission by blanking the article except for the title line. Do not replace with the same material without seeking permission to use the information. For examples of what can happen when you violate copyrights don't cite your sources , see my school's talk page. Please understand that this must be done. Chad 19:28, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

The information from the Fort Worth Country Day School web entry in Wikipedia WAS taken directly from the School's Website to be placed on the Wikipedia site per the Headmaster's request. I am the technology librarian who brought this to our headmaster's attention. Because the "copyrighted" information was created and generated by Fort Worth Country Day School, we authorize Wikipedia to use this information for entry in Wikipedia. If this information cannot be used (rather than the deragotory comments made earlier by others not directly associated with the school), then this entry for FWCDS should be deleted completely.

Per recent events of defammation of character via an article found on Wikipedia, the school would like to be assured that the materials placed online for Wikipedia (and others) will remain accurate and updated by only the FWCDS staff.

For additional information, comments or questions, please contact: Shonda Brisco, FWCDS Technology Librarian, sbrisco@fwcds.org

Thank you.

I'm glad to see that proper permission has been authorized for the use of "copyrighted" material from the website. I have no objections to the school being involved with its wikipedia article but there can be no assurance that this article may only be updated by FWCDS staff. Wikipedia articles are open for anyone to edit with only a few rare exceptions (where users such as founder Jimbo Wales have deemed it appropriate to restrict editing). As long as edits are constructive, I see no reason why they should be prohibited. Vandalism to the page can be reverted with ease to ensure accuracy. Reverting said vandalism is a burden inherent in the use of wikipedia. LuckyPanda 01:50, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
I have some suggestions to improve clairity in your article. First, edit your userpage, which can be found at http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:SBrisco That will allow a user to see who you are and realize your affiliation. Then, add citations. You can learn how at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Cite_sources#How_to_cite_sources Show which material is original, if any. Cite everything else. As a librarian, I'm sure you would agree with that. On Wikipedia, clairty and almost "over-explaination" is a good thing. Chad 02:35, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Advertising

This is not an article, it is simply an ad for the school. Essentially the entire article should be cut.

[edit] Cleanup

I removed everything that wasn't encyclopedic, which was the majority of the article. Clamster5 15:31, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
