[edit] Merging
Shouldn't this page be merged with the Ft. Wayne Komets 1952-1990 page in order to have just one page with the Ft. Wayne Komets. I believe this is how it is done with NHL teams that have relocated.
- Uh? The closest situation in the NHL would be the Ottawa Senators/Ottawa Senators (Original). No. ccwaters 02:01, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Mmm ... I'd be sympathetic, myself, although I agree that there is no parallel with the NHL pages. They are technically different franchises, but they had the same nickname, the same city, the same coach, the same colors and several of the same players; only the owner was different. - If we are not to merge them, then we need to delete all references in this article claiming that they are the same franchise, such as "Founded in 1952, they are the second oldest franchise in minor-league hockey." --Chancemichaels 18:16, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Chancemichaels
- "Second oldest team in minor-league hockey" would be a useful distinction, although that's debatable in of itself, because there are at least three older AHL franchises - the Hershey Bears, the Peoria Rivermen (f/k/a Springfield Indians), and the Hartford Wolfpack (f/k/a Providence Reds). It might be worthwhile to discuss the provenance of other IHL survivors as well. RGTraynor 21:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Founded Date
The original Komets moved became the Albany Choppers in 1990. The Flint Spirits relocated and assumed the Komets namesake. REF: http://www.kometslegends.com/1990s/index.html ccwaters 23:21, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
