Talk:Fort Edward (town), New York

[edit] suggestions on History Section

I would suggest adding more information about the role Fort Edward had during the French and Indian War as a troop center for the British and as a staging area for Roger's Rangers on Roger's Island. Wikipedia already has a good link to the Roger's Rangers and to the modern visitor's center that handles archaeological collections from the town. Two books that treat the millitary aspect of Fort Edward's history would be "The Great Warpath: British Military Sites from Albany to Crown Point" (1999) and more recently "Rangers and Redcoats on the Hudson: Exploring the Past on Rogers Island, the Birthplace of the U. S. Army Rangers" (2004) both are written by David R. Starbuck. Including other authors would helpful in fleshing out the general history of the Fort Edward region, especially after the Revolutionary War period. I trust Starbuck's writings since I know he has excavated around the area for several years.
