This needs updating - it still refers to the Taliban regime. -- April

I have started by removing the reference to a dispute re UN representation, updating the initial overview, changing the general lay-out and adding a bit about German Afghani relationship. I also removed a reference re Kashmir and joint land border India/Afghanistan as I felt this is just a start to have a major discussion re rights and wrongs of Kashmir +/- occupations etc, which I do not think this particular article shoudl be used for. I hope this can generally be agreed upon Refdoc 20:21, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)

This sentence "By 2001, only Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates recognized the Taliban. All three countries withdrew recognition Saudi Arabia and the UAE withdrew recognition following the September 11, 2001 bombings. " Rich Farmbrough 14:40 6 March 2006 (UTC).
