StarFist: Force Recon series

A series of military science-fiction novels contemporaneous with the StarFist series, set in the 25th century, and written primarily from the viewpoint of the enlisted men. As of January 2007, the Starfist: Force Recon series is comprised of two novels written by David Sherman and Dan Cragg. An additional novel has been contracted for (making it a trilogy), but its release date has not been announced.

While the Starfist series deals primarily with a particular Confederation Marine brigade-size unit called 34th FIST (Fleet Initial Strike Team), Starfist: Force Recon deals with the men and women who carry out intelligence-gathering and small-unit raids on enemy centers of gravity far behind the lines. Confederation Marine Force Recon is very similar in mission to United States Marine Force Recon, with which co-author Sherman, a former US Marine, was familiar with.
