Fortrose, New Zealand

Fortrose is a township on the southernmost coast of the South Island of New Zealand, named by one of its Scottish settlers in mid 1800s. It is at the mouth of Mataura River and was a useful port in the nineteenth century. It is now reviving somewhat as 'The Gateway to the Catlins'.
