Fort Weyr

Fort Weyr is the first of eight (by the end of the 9th pass) Weyrs on the Planet on Pern in Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. Fort Weyr was the first Weyr established. It is located in the mountains of the Southwestern peninsula of the Northern Continent. It was built primarily using high tech sonic/plasma stone cutters to form perfectly smooth walls absent in later Weyrs.

The first Fort Weyrleaders encountered in the series are T'ron (called T'ton in Dragonflight) and his Weyrwoman Mardra. After T'ron loses a knife fight to F'lar, he resigns his position to T'kul. After the Oldtimers moved south, N'ton became Weyrleader when his bronze dragon Lioth flew the new Weyrwoman Margatta's queen Ludeth. Another famous pairing, Sh'gall and Moreta, were the Weyrleaders of Fort Weyr at the time of the great plague.
