After the arrival of the ROC/KMT Occupation Forces in 1945, it was renamed 'Red-topped Tower' (Traditional Chinese: 赤崁樓/赤嵌樓; pinyin: Chìkǎnlóu; POJ: Chhiah-khám-lâu). This name derives from the Taiwanese aboriginal word Chakam.
