A Formosa bond is a non-NTD-denominated bond (NTD = New Taiwan Dollar) that is issued in Taiwan by a foreign institution. In the future, these bonds can be denominated in NTD, however, the mechanism to do so has not been implemented. Domestic firms in Taiwan are also allowed to issue bonds denominated in foreign currency. However, a name has not been given to this class of bonds. The first Eurodollar Formosa Bond was issued by Deutsche Bank and it will be listed on November 1, 2006.
