Former US Airways destinations
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Below is a list of destinations previously served by US Airways (formerly USAir), the US Airways Express carriers, US Airways Shuttle, and MetroJet. See US Airways Destinations for a list of current destinations.
This list is only comprehensive for destinations discontinued in or after 1999; additional destinations are given where possible. Where given, dates for the end of service are approximate.
This list only contains destinations previously served by US that are not currently served by US; destinations which have been discontinued and then later restarted are not listed. For example, neither Mexico City nor Presque Isle appears on this list: service to Mexico City was discontinued in 1995, but later resumed on 26 October 2003; Presque Isle service was discontinued on 1 December 2000, but later resumed on 15 May 2001. However, destinations formerly served by US which were added back to the US system as a result of the merger with America West Airlines are listed separately below.
There are several instances of relatively large groups of airports simultaneously losing their US Airways Express service. California destinations discontinued on 28 December 1999 are a result of Trans States Airlines ceasing its California operations. New York and New England destinations discontinued on 1 December 2000 are a result of CommutAir ending its relationship with US Airways Express and thereafter marketing its service to those destinations as Continental Connection. Florida and Bahamas destinations discontinued in January 2005 are a result of Air Midwest ceasing its Florida operations.
