"Forever Your Girl" is a 1989 hit song for Paula Abdul, taken from her album of the same name Forever Your Girl. It was written and produced by Oliver Leiber. It became Abdul's second #1 single from her debut album which would eventually turn out a record of 4 #1 singles.
The song was also performed at the 1989 MTV Music Video Awards as a part of a melody Abdul sang that night.
"Forever Your Girl" spent two weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and also reached number twenty-four in the UK singles chart. The single entered the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart the week of March 25, 1989, jumping from #55 to #45. Some eight weeks later, the week of May 20, 1989, "Forever Your Girl" would withstand Jody Watley's "Real Love" from the penthouse, spending two weeks at #1, through May 27, 1989.
The video was directed by David Fincher, it featured Abdul acting as a choreographer and director of a children's performance (a 7-year-old Elijah Wood was one of the kids). The "Forever Your Girl" video spent two weeks at number one on MTV's video rotation and established Abdul as a leading visual entertainer.
