Ford (Sefton) railway station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ford railway station was a station located on the North Mersey Branch at East of Netherton Way A5038, Sefton, England. It opened for service on the 1 June 1906, and closed on 2 April 1951. Passenger trains then only ran once a year on this line, transporting passengers for the Grand National, although this service also ceased in 1956. The track is still in place although is no longer electrified, allowing a future opportunity for reopening the line and station for public services.

Since the early 1990s, the line has been used solely as a route for engineers' trains to access the Merseyrail Ormskirk line.
