Fontys Hogescholen

Fontys is one operator of Universities of Applied Science in the Netherlands. The headquarters of Fontys is in the city of Eindhoven. Internationally, the names Fontys University of Applied Sciences (English) and Fontys Fachhochschule (German) are used.

Fontys was incorporated in the Year 1996 and currently consists of 38 Universities of Applied Sciences.

Many of Germans from near the border study at the Fontys Venlo. Currently there are approximately 60 per cent German students. Fontys offers among others Computer Science and Business Administration, taught in German and English. Since 2002 Fontys has offered a Bachelor of Science in Computer science with the major Software Engineering. It is a four year course (8 Semesters) with 240 ECTS credit points. The degree is named "Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology". The German "Kultusministerkonferenz" (congress for standarisation of schools and other things) decided that this degree is equivalent to the German Diplom (FH).

Fontys also offers programs leading to a BBA "Bachelor of Business Administration", BBE "Bachelor of Business Economies" and in cooperation with the FH Niederrhein "Logistics".
