Dear Reader,

Thankyou for dropping by my home page.

If you wish to leave a message, insult, praise, etc, then please use my talk page. Thanks.

I'm a recent contributor, mainly since August 2005, and prone to over-simplifying. But basically good-natured and I try to avoid nastiness. I'm still getting to grips with conventions and rules.

Areas of interest have been fairly random, but include WW2, places I've visited and my area of work. Contributions include:

[edit] Stoneage or Stone Age?

Dear Folks- When I wrote my book on the subject (Hell, ten years ago, gosh I am old!) of military codewords, my sources indicated it was two words. Those sources were with the (American) Merchant Marine. Of course in those days before cut-and-paste spelling and other errors were rampant. (Check out Operation Starlite for a good example.

So if you would like to change it to one word, please feel free. I would ask you to add a link to a page for the two word variant, which might just be that, a variant.

Finally, are you and I the only people with an unusual attraction to codewords?

Paul, in Saudi 02:08, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

Dear Folks- I would not want to say with authority which is correct. As likely as not, some typist put it one way on some documents and the other way on others. In those pre-computer time things like that were accepted pretty well.

Due to security concerns, I am on dialup for the next few weeks. Please do not think I am ignoring your fine contributions. Paul, in Saudi 14:43, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
