Follo Folk High School is located in the district of Follo, 38 km south of Oslo, in Vestby. Good train connection to Oslo, or southbound towards Gothenburg. Traveltime from Vestby to Oslo is about 30 min. Traveltime with the airport expressbus (Flybussekspressen) to Gardermoen is approx. 1 hour.
Follo Folk high school is situated centraly in the municipality of Vestby, population approx. 13000. Surrounded by a picturesque landscape, it is located only 5 min. by foot from local stores, public offices, bank, postal services, library, medical offices, train station and buss station.
The school has room for 105 students spread across 6 hostels. Students share twin-bedded rooms, but there are a few single rooms available. The main structure houses the library, gymnasium with theater stage, dance studio, living room with fireplace and TV, auditorium with stage, dining hall, workshops for arts and crafts, dressmaking, carpentry, ceramics, video editing, photo developing and a recording studio.

Follo Folk High School welcomes students of various qualifications. The students are selected on the basis of a holistic assessment of the applicant's subject priorities, motivation, areas of interest, age, gender etc. Each year students from various countries are admitted to Follo Folk High School, and you have a unique opportunity to make friends across cultural borders. The school year starts at the end of August and lasts until the beginning of May.
The Folk High School provides no vocational or professional training and award no formal academic credits for foreign students. However, students do a year of systematic education as well as a certificate of attendance showing the participation of the different activities.
All instruction is held in Norwegian, except certain classes focusing on international affair, as well as some classes in Norwegian for foreign students. English may be used as a support language.

For international students there is also a subject called Norwegian language and culture, whitch they will attend in addition to one of the major subjects.

and extracurricular activities are available according to the needs of the students: Philosophy, psychology, discussion sessions, history, theater, music, vocal, guitar, light/sound, ceramics and carpentry, cooking, photo, video, aerobic etc.

make up 12 hrs. a week and include but is not limited to "My audience and me", "Mythos in us", "Communication across cultures", "The individual and society" and "principals class".
