[edit] Atlas and British Isles

In October, 2006, Folens announced that the new edition of Folens' atlas would no longer use the term[1] "British Isles" in the new edition of its atlas, to be introduced the following January. This followed from a parent who had complained to their childs' school about the use of the term in the atlas used in geography lessons. The school advised the parent to take up the matter with the publisher, resulting in the removal of the term.

The phrase is disliked by some because they feel it minimises the independence of the Republic of Ireland.
