[edit] Virtual Modelling Software

VMS has been around on the internet for a number of years, allowing users to see themselves in different clothes, hairstyles, glasses even body shapes. FocusFix VMS is one of the newest and most sophisticated systems dealing with prescription glasses.

[edit] Image Realism

  • Scaling: The FocusFix VMS accurately scales the glasses by utilising the user's pupillary distance and the centers of the pupils. This data can then be used to correctly scale the frame and to position the glasses as they would be worn.
  • Anti-Aliasing: In order to blend the frames into the users face, independent of skin or hair colour, the FocusFix VMS uses Java's advanced image processing capabilities to blend the edge of the frame into the users face. This gives a more realistic image and overcomes the anti-aliasing artifacts that would otherwise be visible around the frame.
  • Lens Options: The user can also see how they'd look in sunglasses and other degrees of tinted lenses, and if appropriate the VMS can demonstrate the D-Seg of bi-focal lenses.

[edit] Glazing Measurements

The other side of the VMS system provides the glazing laboratory with the measurements required to accurately glaze the spectacles. To correctly glaze prescription spectacles the lenses should be accurately positioned within the frame which depends on the wearer's particular characteristics and the type of lens being glazed.

[edit] Bi-focals and Vari-focals

The FocusFix VMS is the first system to allow the accurate glazing of bi-focal and vari-focal lenses online. Traditionally these lenses could only be offered in store because they require measurments to be taken with the frame being worn to ensure the lenses are situated correctly within the frame.

By allowing the user to adjust the position of the glasses, the software can provide the required measurments for accurate glazing. This gives more comfortable wear for the user and can help avoid the eye strain that can be caused by incorrectly glazed glasses.
