Talk:Fnord (web server)

[edit] Two different webservers

This article is very mistaken. There appear to actually be two webservers: one written by Brian Morin, and another written by Felix von Leitner. Both were written from scratch.

Brian's only appears to be available via sourceforge at http://sourceforge.net/projects/msfnord/

Felix's is the one linked to by the article, but the actual website is at http://fefe.de/fnord/ (the linked site is just a guide on installing it).

I am not sure which feature set was listed on the comparison of webservers page, but they look like Felix's as well.

[edit] Confirmed

Yeah, Fnord was a web service I wrote back in school and discontinued after taking up an internship at Microsoft. Steve Kazmerzack picked it up, but trademark issues with Steve Jackson games over the icon pretty much put it to bed.

Some number of years later, MS Research picked it back up as a demo of how to convert a service to IP v6.

The Felix von Leitner Unix deamon appears to be a distinct project.
